Disability@work provide new evidence on disability and trade union membership in the UK

Melanie Jones of disability@work has recently authored an article which uses large scale survey data to document the higher rates of union membership among disabled employees in the UK. While consistent with evidence of stronger preferences for union representation among disabled workers she finds no evidence that unions reduce disability-related inequality in terms of pay or employment retention.

An accessible summary of the findings is available at: Disability and trade union membership in the UK – Wales Institute of Social and Economic Research and Data (wiserd.ac.uk)
