Founder members of the Disability Employment Charter from Disability@Work, Scope, Leonard Cheshire, UNISON and the Shaw Trust Foundation, met with Cabinet Office Disability Unit officials to discuss the Charter’s proposals.
As well as updating officials on the Charter’s progress, including its 130+ signatory organisations and ongoing discussions with both Ministers and shadow Ministers, the Charter’s founders also discussed the potential for the government’s recently-announced Disability Action Plan, unveiled by Tom Pursglove MP, Minister for Disabled People, as a route by which to take forward the Charter’s recommendations on disability employment and pay gap reporting and on Disability Confident. Several of the Charter’s proposals are underpinned by Disability@Work research.
The discussion also addressed the Charter’s proposals for the reform of Access to Work, and the introduction of a two-week time limit for employers to respond to requests for reasonable adjustments.
