Our contribution to the Wales: A Fair Work Nation

With two submissions to this public consultation (2018), disability@work was pleased to see a focus on organisational reporting in the final report (Fair Work Wales 2019). In the first submission Melanie Jones and Victoria Wass propose the disability employment gap as a universal equality barometer for whether or not the economy is ‘working for everyone’.

Understanding and progressing towards fairer employment practices for disabled people requires better measuring and reporting on disability and disability-related gaps at the level of the workplace. The second submission by Nick Bacon and Kim Hoque covers the role of institutional features of the workplace in supporting and protecting disabled employees.
