Seminar at Centre for Analysis of Social Exclusion, LSE

In December 2018, Melanie presented work on the impact of disability onset on employment and life satisfaction.  The audience of policymakers included members of the Health and Work Unit at the DWP sponsored CASE Welfare Policy and Analysis Seminar Series.

Melanie’s presentation highlighted the negative impact of disability onset on employment and a measure of overall wellbeing, namely life satisfaction, in both the UK and Australia. She emphasised the critical role played by the severity of disability, including in relation to chronicity and argued that this suggested the need for tailored policy support, including in relation to the duration of disability.
