Plenary lecture at CIPD Applied Research Conference December 2017

Professor Kim Hoque (second from right) and Dr Lisa Cameron MP (left) gave a plenary lecture at the CIPD’s Applied Research Conference at Strathclyde University (Gill Dix ACAS second from left and Jonny Gifford CIPD right). Kim outlined the recent academic research that Disability@Work has conducted and outlined how this research is helping to shape the policy agenda in particular via the All Party Parliamentary Group for Disability report ‘Ahead of the Arc: A Contribution to Halving the Disability Employment Gap’. Disability@Work, along with Philip Connolly of Disability Rights UK, have taken the Report’s recommendations to the BEIS Industrial Strategy team, the DWP’s Office for Disability Issues, HM Treasury, the No.10 policy unit, the British Business Bank, the Infrastructure and Projects Authority and Innovate UK, with a view to embedding them current strategy- and policy-making.
Dr Lisa Cameron MP, who Chairs the All Party Parliamentary Group for Disability, discussed her work to drive inclusive policymaking through the APPG, by raising questions in debates in the Commons, promoting disability issues with elected Members, and by pushing the Commons to become a more disability-inclusive employer.
